Two Frenchmen sick cow diseaseThe representatives of the French health announced that the human variant of mad cow disease diagnosed in another two people in the country. Thus, the total number of French, cases of disease of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (vCJD), has reached 11. Experts said that in the medical documents of these two patients there are no records of what they were blood donors. This statement is due to the fact that the other two French diagnosed with vCJD, in the period from 1984 to 2002 has repeatedly donated blood as a donor. Currently, the authorities are conducting an investigation to determine the persons who poured the blood. The disease of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease develops when injected into the human body a prion - specific proteins that cause the animal spongiform encephalopathy ("mad cow disease"). The disease in humans is manifested by progressive dementia and quickly leads to death of the patient. The first cases of mad cow disease were registered in the UK in the 90-ies, the disease claimed the lives of 149 the British. Cases of vCJD reported in Ireland, Canada, Japan, Italy and the USA, and two of these cases - the Irish and the Japanese became infected during their stay in Britain.
